Swedish Rescue Training Centre (SRTC)

History of SRTC

Since the middle of the 1950´s, Hasslum (currently the training grounds of SRTC) have been a military and civil training area.

In 1986, the Swedish Rescue Service Agency - SRSA was established, with four training centres nationwide, namely Revinge, Skövde, Rosersberg and Sandö. The development of the Hasslum training centre in Skövde and the training grounds for, among others, rescue personnel, fire fighters, fire chiefs, and international organizations, continued until 2008.

In 2008, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency - MSB was established while, that year, the Swedish Rescue Service Agency, the Swedish Board of Physiological Defence, and the Swedish Emergency Management Agency were all closed, just like the Skövde and Rosersberg training centres.

The Skövde Hasslum Centre has then been privatised, and the development of rescue and safety training activities on its training ground continued under the new name of Swedish Rescue Training Centre i Skövde AB, a subsidiary of Autokaross i Floby AB.

Training facility and capability

SRTC operates in the areas of risk and safety. They aim at being customers’ first choice for risk & safety training and education for Swedish and international governmental agencies, organisations and companies.

This facility aims at raising their customers’ situation awareness and ability – through training and education – by working with both individuals and groups. Increasing customers’ “situation awareness” means that when exposed or operating in dangerous environments, they should be able to predict the course of events and understand how different decisions might influence the outcome.  This implies individual and group actions, and foreseeing both the short and long-term implications.

Their instructors are highly skilled and have significant experience, both as educators and operational personnel.  Thanks to its wide network of specialists and the newly-signed partnership with Hotzone Solutions, SRTC can provide the very type of expertise our clients asks for.  The Centre’s training method consists of several steps, combining theory with practical training.  Training mainly focuses on hands-on activities in realistic, high risk training environment, including CBRN simulated environments with simulants.  This kind of method provides the best possible results and allows easy learning, regardless of the exercise level and even when new subject matters are dealt with.

SRTC´s unique training grounds – which span over 300 acres –  have a layout and a diversity of training objects offering advantages that few training centres, if any, can surpass. Participants can train for different missions over several days, without having to come across the same training ground twice.  The facility can train far more than 100 participants at the same time, and has the required personal training material available for all of them.  They can make available the latest techniques and materials to all trainees.

In 2011, SRTC is yet again certified by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency as an external provider of rescue and safety training.

If you whish to ask for an all-inclusive package including transfer, travel, accommodation, and also leisure activities, we can offer different solutions and standards, from barrack lodging to hostel and hotel accommodation.  The SRTC´s facilities also include a restaurant, where lunch and refreshments are provided to training participants.  Travel to Skövde can be arranged at competitive rates, either by the train main line or by direct flight to Skövde’s Airport.
